You’ll Be Furious at How Easy It Was to Get You to Click on This Page
This post will not restore your faith in tech blogs.. Neither will it surprise, stun, astonish, bewitch, please, or in any way, impress you. What it will do.. hopefully in a clear and concise way, is explain why people continuosly fall for clickbait. You know, like you just did a few moments ago.
Whether you think it’s clever, stupid, annoying, waste of time, infuriating or just not your thing, one thing is clear about clickbait.. It’s increasingly hard to ignore and it rarely if ever delivers on your expectations.
How many of us are willing to plough through advert after advert just to try and establish the answer to the question we thought would be answered when we tapped on that headline? I can’t answer that but I would assume it is in the millions.
I am conducting a small poll to hopefully get a clearer idea of why we fall for this obvious and manipulating technique used by publishers.
Here’s what most people can agree on: Clickbait is annoying, but by god, it works.. even when we recognize it for what it is. Utter CRAP!!
